Leprechauns, Rainbows, and Shamrocks! Oh, My!

What a wonderful week of Irish fun!  We even learned how to dance a jig!
The students made a leprechaun glyph!

The students followed directions to paint a leprechaun.

We made leprechaun baskets!

We made a leprechaun ladder!  We are trying to catch a leprechaun!

Working on our shamrocks!

The students sorted, tallied and graphed fruit loops.

Measuring colored strips for our rainbows

The students picked 3 objects.  They listened for the beginning and ending sounds.

Measuring shamrocks using various items

Subtracting fruit loops
This is an extension of our High-Low Domino game.  The students pick 2 shamrock cards to make a high number and then a low number.  They record their answer  using a green marker to mark the high number and a yellow marker to mark the low number.

I downloaded this game from someone's blog last year.  Students spin a number and fill their pots with gold.

We read lots of books about colors and rainbows.  Each student had a plate with primary colors of icing and 6 pretzel sticks.

The students mixed the primary colors to make the secondary colors.

The students ate a rainbow!

We made a magical mix!  First, pour a half cup of lemonade.

Then, add blue juice.  Look it turns green!

Next, add whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles.

The students wrote and illustrated the directions.

The students wrote about being lucky.

We had fun using our Irish names this week.  The students even wrote their Irish names on their work!
Some of my little froggy friends left notes for the leprechaun.  Too cute!

Even Mr. Mac Bones dressed for St. Paddy's Day!

  1. Cute ideas! I love your leprechaun baskets! Do you have the directions for making them or can you tell me where I can find them? My kids would love it! Thanks!
