In My Garden and a FREEBIE

We started the week off reading The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
We brainstormed some words we might use to write about the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
They did an awesome job!!!

We made RAINBOW FLOWERS!

We illustrated and labeled PLANT PARTS!

We planted HAIRY HEADS!
Steps 1 & 2 -  Scoop dirt and fill cup.
Step 3 - Sprinkle seeds
Step 4 - Cover seeds.
Step 5 - Water seeds.
We are waiting for our Hairy Heads to sprout!

We made FUNNY BUNNY BASKETS!

We ate DIRT!
Smashing chocolate graham crackers for dry dirt.

Shaking up chocolate pudding for our wet dirt or MUD!

We added 1 scoop of dry dirt and a worm.

Poured the mud  in the cup and topped it off with another scoop of dry dirt.  Don't forget to add more worms!!!

We wrote a SUN LIST POEM!

The students picked a word and read it to decide where it should be placed on our chart.  We used these verbs and adjectives to write our list poem about the sun.  Notice the words are color coded, nouns=blue, verbs=green, adjectives=red.  This a great way to introduce vocabulary!
SOME MORE LEARNING FUN!!!
Students bought fruits and vegetables from the market using pennies, nickels, and dimes.  Once the students counted the correct amount they could record the results by drawing the coins.

The students had fun practicing their silent "e" words!  This freebie is from Tales of a Teacherista.
POTATO DISCOVERIES!
WEIGHING MY POTATO!

DOES MY POTATO FLOAT?

MEASURING CIRCUMFERENCE!

RECORDING THE RESULTS!

  4. What a great post!

We make something like the hairy heads but we call them dirt babies! =)

I love the BME with The Tale of Peter Rabbit. We are getting a package on Monday from either him or the Easter Bunny...I am still trying to decide. =)
